‘Marathwada Mitra Mandal’, the charitable trust is established in 1967 in Pune with the objective of providing accommodation facilities to the students. Being established through an inspiration of socially and educationally charged personalities, it serves with a motto ‘Yethe Bahutanche Hit’ (Welfare of Masses). At its various educational campuses, excellent facilities of education are provided to more than 12000 students pertaining to Architecture, Management, Law, Commerce, Pharmacy and Engineering etc. Recently, the Marathwada Mitra Mandal’s four colleges are accredited with ‘A’ Grade by NAAC, Bengaluru.

About Shankarrao Chavan Law College: With the objective of nurturing future lawyer with ideals and values required for playing constructive role to create a better world, in 2003, Shankarrao Chavan Law College is established. In an attempt to impart quality legal education, the college organizes wide range of co-curricular activities such as Hon’ble Late Justice P. B. Sawant National Moot Court Competition, Late Shri Shankarrao Chavan Memorial Elocution Competition etc. The college has also established Centre for Advanced Legal Research & Training and Centre for Academic Research, Publication and E-content in Law (CARPEL) for training the students on various legal issues and to inculcate various set of skills among students.

About Navjeevan Law College, Nashik: Knowledge of law is the demand of time . In view of growing need in the region for law students, Hon’ble Subhash Deshmukh alias Bade Sir , Managing trustee Navjeevan Education Society has accepted this Challenge for providing Society makers and upholders of law, good law abiding students who are keen to observe the circumstances and true knowledge lovers, started Navjeevan Law College in 1999 at Nashik .

About Consumer Advocacy Group: Industrialization has brought many revolutionary changes in the national economy and extended benefits to the society at large.Major contribution in providing economic benefits to individualcan be given to the industrialization. But, this industrialization has negatively impacted upon the consumer’s interest. To address consumer related issues and create awareness about the consumer’s right in the society, Consumer Advocacy Group is constituted by the P.V.S.Murthy Sir. Across the nation, state wise Group has been created and voluntarily legal experts from the academic, legal practitioners etc are working for this noble cause. This seminar is an attempt to fulfill the objectives of the Group.

About the Seminar:Due to significant development of industrialization, consumers were exploited to large extent. With certain objectives such as to avoid exploitation of consumers, recognition of consumer’s right and remedies against the unfair and restrictive trade practices, the Consumer Protection Act, 1986 was passed. Later on, to expand the scope of this Act and to address several new issues such as e-commerce, direct selling of goods, e-marketing, product liability etc, The Consumer Protection Act, 2019 has been enacted. The object of the Act is to provide for protection of the interests of consumers and for the said purpose, to establish authorities for timely and effective administration and settlement of consumers’ disputes and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.[1]

This seminar is an attempt to create awareness and disseminate knowledge about newly enacted legislation i.e. The Consumer Protection Act, 2019 to the students and societal members.

  • To understand the core concepts relating the Consumer Protection Act, 2019
  • To get acquainted with the legal mechanism and remedies available to the consumers available in the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 etc..
